The government has been eyeing the hike in prices for the land of the residential plots and the houses as well. Under such circumstances, a very important move is taken by the government and the real estate builders are acquiring land from the owners and then converting those plots into residential colonies and townships. This is done to improve the living conditions and lifestyle of those who are still not able to buy their own houses. The housing and urban affairs ministry is eyeing substantial increase in the demand of the allocation of houses and apartments and flats. There are government’s two flagship programs – the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Delhi Awas Yojana. Both the projects aim at providing better opportunities to create better-living conditions for all. This is being done to create awareness about leading a healthy lifestyle in a better environment.
Delhi Awas Yojna, our government’s brainchild; this project has initiated better living conditions in the society. People, who relocate to Delhi for work purpose, are not left with any option other than renting the flats. For such and others as well, these beautiful residential colonies are on the rise. This is the creation and commencement of urbanization and redevelopment of the city. While budgetary allocation for the project is likely to be increased; the government has aimed at completing more than 10 lakhs of houses to a maximum number of people. Though the government is trying to meet the target of allocating almost 20 lakhs housing units under this project.

This project is one of the dream projects of the government. It aims at investment in housing colonies in a prime location with all the benefits being provided to the poor and middle-class people. The rise of acquiring such affordable housing solutions by a majority of the middle-class people is being seen as the rise in an avenue for pushing construction activities to a higher level. This is the onset and the new beginning of making Delhi and other cities as the smart city by urbanization and redevelopment of slums and other areas where the living conditions were once poor.
